Ambassador and Mrs. Nagamine hosted a New Year’s Reception at their residence on the evening of Tuesday, 29th January, under the participation of XX guests such as Japanese expatriates in the Netherlands and Dutch citizens having a special tie with Japan.
Mr. R.A.R. de Munck played “Koto” (Japanese traditional instrument) at the beginning of the reception, followed by remarks of new year by Ambassador Nagamine and Mr. Iichi Mishima, who is the president of Japanese Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands (JCC).
Later on, “Kagami-biraki” (opening of a big SAKE barrel by wooden hammers) was implemented together by Judge Hisashi Owada (International Court of Justice), Mr. Mishima, Mr. Jan van Zanen (the Mayor of Amstelveen), Mr. Michihiro Yasuda (Japanese football player belongs to “Vitesse”) and Ambassador Nagamine.  Mr. van Zanen proposed a toast for a new year immediately after “Kagami-biraki”.
Furthermore, activities for promotion of Sake were held and attendants celebrated a new year in very good and relaxed atmosphere.
